Scone Neighbourhood Centre 2021 training courses

LOCALS are invited to increase their skills with the Scone Neighbourhood Resource Centre (SNRC) this year and participate in White Card Training, Food Safety, Coffee making, Responsible Service of Alcohol or Responsible Conduct of Gaming courses.

Lee Watts, SNRC manager said the courses create fantastic introductory pathways into a diverse range of careers.

“Last year we had a lot of people go through who were really pleased with the skills they picked up,” said Ms Watts.

“Not only do courses provide key training that aids employment opportunities but they also refresh exisiting skills,” she said.

WHITE CARD TRAINING

When: Friday, February 12

Cost: $130

In New South Weals it is mandatory that any person entering onto a construction site in any capacity must hold a current General Induction card.

​This course specifies the outcomes required to undertake Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) induction training within the construction industry.

​It requires the ability to demonstrate personal awareness of WHS legislative requirements, and the basic principles of risk management and prevention of injury and illness in the construction industry.

FOOD SAFETY SUPERVISOR

When: Tuesday, March 2

Cost: $165

This course describes the skills and knowledge required to handle food safely during the storage, preparation, display, service and disposal of food. It requires the ability to follow predetermined procedures as outlined in a food safety program.

Safe food handling practices are based on an organisation’s individual food safety program. The program would normally be based on the hazard analysis and critical control points (HACCP) method, but this unit can apply to other food safety systems.

It applies to food handlers who directly handle food during the course of their daily work activities. This includes cooks, chefs, caterers, kitchen hands and food and beverage attendants.

COFFEE SKILLS

When: Friday, March 5

Cost: $120

This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to extract and serve espresso coffee beverages using commercial espresso machines and grinders. It requires the ability to advise customers on coffee beverages, select and grind coffee beans, prepare and assess espresso coffee beverages and to use, maintain and clean espresso machines and grinders. Complex repairs of equipment would be referred to specialist service technicians.

Entry requirements or Pre-requisites

To enrol you must have completed the Safe food handling (Level 1) – SITXFSA001 Use hygienic practices for food safety, or equivalent.

RESPONSIBLE SERVICE OF ALCOHOL – RSA

When: Monday, March 15

Cost: $160

RSA practices must be undertaken wherever alcohol is sold or served, including where alcohol samples are served during on-site product tastings. This unit, therefore, applies to any workplace where alcohol is sold or served, including all types of hospitality venue, packaged liquor outlets and wineries, breweries and distilleries.

Students don’t require any previous qualification to undertake this course however, they should be 18 years or older.

RESPONSIBLE CONDUCT OF GAMBLING – RCG

When: Tuesday, March 16

Cost: $115

If you’re going to work in a registered club or hotel and your duties involve gaming machines, you must complete competency training in the Responsible Conduct of Gambling (RCG). If you don’t have valid evidence that you’ve completed the RCG training required for working with gaming machines, you could be fined.

Students don’t require any previous qualification to undertake this course however, they should be 18 years or older.
