Snow Time Caution
By Taylah Fellows
SNOW is predicted to fall in the Barrington Region this weekend accompanied by heavy wind speeds reaching between 40 and 50km.
There is a severe weather warning issued to Scone today due to wind speeds that are expected to average between 60 and 70km per hour, later this afternoon.
The Bureau of Meteorology (BOM) said the worst of the conditions will be felt today with winds predicted to reach up to 90km.
BOM warns people to stay clear of dangerous and slippery roads where treefall may occur.
The Barrington will experience heavy dust fall today and tomorrow with possible snowfall over the weekend depending on rainfall.
Elevated terrain areas should expect 700-800 metres of rainfall today, potentially lowering later on.
“When it comes to the possibility of snowfall, it’s more likely to occur over the weekend than today because of the wind aspect,” said Craig from the BOM.
There’s also a sheep grazer warning in most of the state due to the cold temperatures, the chance of some showers and strong winds.
BOM encourages readers to keep tabs on their website for the most recent updates and busy warnings that are issued.
“It’s about being safe, especially on roads and being aware of emergency services,” said Craig.
