Snitzel Takes Top Spot
SNITZEL which stands at Arrowfield stud had two yearlings sell in the top 13 at the Inglis Classic sale yesterday, with the Snitzel x Hussterics colt securing the top priced lot for $170,000.
The colt was purchased by Louis Mihalyka’s Laurel Oak Bloodstock, who outlasted the determined bidding from interstate agents and said the colt has everything needed to be a top two year old.
“I obviously liked his pedigree, and I really liked the currentness of the mare,” said Mr Mihalyka.
More than that, the horse is a real athlete and he looks like a runner,” he said.
“Being by such a hot sire gave him an added conviction, and when Snitzel is inbred through the Easy Date pedigree it has resulted in very successful crosses and this colt has everything he needs to be a top two-year-old and three-year-old,” he said.
“His destination is to be confirmed.
“We have a few more to look at from this sale before we sit down and decide on the correct owner and trainer combination for this colt,” Louis Mihalyka said.
Progeny by I Am Invinsible, which stands at Yarraman Park, have seen high numbers of inspections this week and the filly from Lis Nediym was sold for $155,000 to Billy Healey for Wishbone Farm.
The Sunshine coast trainer outbid several parties including YuLong Investments to secure the filly and said he was taken with the look of the horse from the outset.
“We signed for the horse on behalf of my major owner Darren Wilson,” Mr Healey said.
I loved the look of the filly from the beginning, and I’m lucky enough Darren did also,” he said.
On Saturday 80 percent of the lots had sold for an average of $56,551.
The 78 lots were purchased by 70 unique buyers, including 13 yearlings by 12 different sires for $100,000 or more.
The sales continue today and tomorrow.
