Sconeites: Time To Boil Drinking Water Again!
UPDATE: Boil water alert now extended to Aberdeen.
SCONE residents have been alerted by the Upper Hunter Shire Council to boil their water for drinking and food preparation.
The statement from Council at 7pm said it applies to Scone residents, not Aberdeen or Murrurundi.
Council have stated the issue is due to recent heavy rainfall in the Glenbawn Dam catchment causing problems with water treatment and registering a poor raw water quality.
Residents are advised to use boiled water for:
- drinking;
- food preparation;
- making ice;
- cleaning teeth;
- gargling and
- for pet’s drinking water.
Council further advise kettles with an automatic shut off switch are able to boil water appropriately for drinking standards.
Dishes should be washed in hot soapy water or in a dishwasher.
The NSW Health website has further advise for schools and child care centres and commercial establishments serving food and drinks.
