Scone TAFE sale: “Not a done deal”
PHILLIP Chadwick, New South Wales Teachers Federation union organiser said the Scone TAFE sale may be overturned depending on the results of the by-election, now that Michael Johnsen MP has resigned from Parliament.
“Depending on the results of a by-election, that could be a game changer,” Mr Chadwick said.
“It’s really important people come along to the Scone RSL tonight at 6pm because we have people that can make that change, such as New South Wales Opposition Leader Jodi McKay and David Shoebridge,” he said.
“They really need to hear from the local community about how upset they are about this dreadful decision,” he said.
The sale contract for the 2 Flemington Drive TAFE site was signed by Racing NSW yesterday, which Mr Chadwick says can be reversed if enough political pressure is applied.
“I don’t want to give false hope but we’ve seen similar situations with hospitals, if theres enough political pressure applied, things can change,” Mr Chadwick said.
“I must stress, people need to attend the Scone RSL tonight to put that option to people like Jodi McKay and David Shoebridge,” he said.
“We also have Bronwyn Dunston from the Country Women’s Association and Tom Hunt from New South Wales Farmers coming along,” he said.
“These groups will play an important role in reversing this decision if it’s possible,” said Mr Chadwick.
