Scone Success in Nelson Bay
SCONE Touch Association sent six teams to the Peter Wilson Carnival in Nelson Bay on the weekend, with some great results.
The under 12 girls team were the most successful, beating Central Coast in the semi finals to secure a spot in the grand final.
They were then up against a well drilled Peninsula team but managed to hold them to a 2 all draw at full time.
Each team then had to send one player to the sideline and the game was restarted.
Unfortunately Peninsula managed to get past the Scone girls, who had been playing all carnival with only three substitutes, compared to most teams who had eight .
The team improved throughout the weekend and are now headed for Junior State Cup in two weeks time.
The under 10 boys also had a great carnival, remaining undefeated until the semi-finals, where they lost to the Central Coast.
The under 12 and 14 boys and the under 16 girls all recorded some good wins but were unable to make it to the top of their pools.
The under 12 boys will also compete in Port Macquarie at the Junior State Cup.
