Scone Stock Report: July 11
By Stuart Sheldrake.
THERE was a yarding of 880 cattle yesterday with the market selling to firm to slightly dearer trends.
There were very few export cattle yarded which saw that market sell to firm rates.
The majority off the yarding was made up of weaner and secondary type cattle with a few good grain fed cattle spread through.
Grain fed calves sold to firm rates on last week.
Weaners were a bit stronger selling five to ten cents dearer.
Yearling heifers were a lot stranger with a buyer from out of the region strengthening the prices by ten to fifteen cents and feeder steers were also stronger.
The store sale scheduled for Thursday, July 21 has been cancelled due to lack of numbers.
The lower cattle numbers are largely due to it still being too wet to get the trucks in at this stage.
When things dry out a bit we’d expect to see increased numbers again.
