YESTERDAY approximately 1,300 Angus and Angus-cross females were penned.
The market was very strong.
There were approximately 500 cows and calves with the top pen of cows and calves making $2,450 and there were a couple of those.
Across the board the cows and calves averaged $2,065.
The best pregnancy tested cows made up to $1,920, the best pregnancy tested heifers made to a top of $2,000 and the best of the unjoined females made to a top of $1,100.
The average price for all categories was $1,650, which was a great result and the best result for the Hunter Valley Angus Breeders to date.
Tuesday’s Sale
On Tuesday 1270 cattle penned similar penning of export cattle to the previous week with the majority of export cattle being good heavy cows.
The market eased 5 cents on the good cows.
The majority of the yarding was made up of weaners and yearling cattle and there was also a small yarding of good trade finished cattle.
The trade cattle sold to firm rates on the previous weeks quotes however secondary yearlings were cheaper and probably sold 10 to 12 cents cheaper.
There was a very good offering of light weaner cattle and they sold to slightly dearer rates.
There was limited supply of feeder steers but what were available sold to strong rates.
