Scone Stock Report: June 19
By Stuart Sheldrake
THERE were 1066 cattle yarded yesterday at the Scone saleyards.
Probably more people deciding to sell compared to the cost of feeding, but I don’t think we will be seeing more than those numbers over the next few weeks.
There was a plainer offering of cattle.
There were a few good cows penned and they were a bit dearer, which is a reversal on last week.
The trade and weaners were a bit cheaper, up to 15 cents cheaper.
There were a select few butcher calves and they were 20 or 30 cents dearer for the right ones.
We are just in that period of time where it is winter, it’s cold and even if we do get rain now it’s not going to grow.
The good thing is there has been rain up on the top and on the back of that rain it will run into the Hunter to keep it flowing when the snow melts down a bit.
