Scone Stock Report : Feb 14
By Stuart Sheldrake
YESTERDAY saw 1281 cattled yarded in a market that was firm to softer in places probably due to seasonal conditions overall.
A similar yarding of export cattle was quite solid, plainer cows may have been a fraction softer although heavy cows were fully firm and sold to strong rates.
Very few bulls to quote with only about half a dozen penned.
The majority of the yard this week were yearling and vealer cattle again with a better quality yarding than we have seen in the past couple of weeks, there were a few better lines of vealer calves and also weaner and yearling cattle.
The butcher calves sold to firm rates while cattle back to restock eased in price.
Lighter weight weaner cattle were 10 to 15 cents easier, especially secondary lines with better lines selling a shade cheaper from last week.
Yearling cattle saw the same thing with overall prices 5 to 10 cents cheaper.
A few heavier cattle were a fair bit cheaper in parts with cattle 380 to 480 kilos going 10 to 15 cents cheaper.
There will be a store cattle sale tomorrow of about 100 to 150 cows and calves starting at 11.00am.
