Scone Junior Gala Day
MORE than 300 junior rugby players descended on Bill Rose Sports Complex for the Scone Gala Day on Sunday.
The Gala Day, hosted by Scone Junior Rugby Union, was part of the Central North Rugby competition with teams travelling from as far as Inverell, Narrabri and Coonabarabran.
The day also included a visit from NSW Waratah Ned Hanigan, who promoted the NSW Country Eagles match to be held in Tamworth on September 11.
Hanigan gave a talk to each age group, answered questions and signed autographs.
Scone Junior Rugby Union President Tor Killman said weather was brilliant for a day of rugby.
“It was a great success, and all the juniors played well for their home carnival,” he said.
The Under-6’s enjoyed a skills session, followed by a round robin of games, while the other age groups gave it all on the field.
Killman said the day wouldn’t have been a success without the hard work of the volunteers, from referees and grounds managers to canteen/ bbq volunteers and many others who gave up their time.
“Thank you to everyone that helped make our gala day such a success,” he said.
There are three gala days remaining for the season, with teams travelling to Tamworth this Sunday.
