Scone Golf Report: Dec 7

CALMER conditions prevailed on Saturday December 7 at Scone Golf Course for the playing of the Scone RSL Group Monthly Mug. Phil McGuirk and John Roe both had fine scores of 68 nett with Phil winning the Mug on a countback. John had to settle for the B Grade prize for his 40 points. The third best score of the day was by David O’Donnell who won A Grade with 39 points. Scott Reid was the winner of C Grade with 38 points.
Balls went to the above players plus Jeff Harrington 36, Clayton Rogers, Lyn Banks, Harry Mitchell, John Haydon 34, George Campbell, Stuart Dawson, Jock O’Connor 33 on a countback from Steve Morse.
The NTP’s were won by John Roe on the 4th / 11th at 1.65 metres and by Ross Banks on the 8th / 17th at 3.16 metres. Both pins were located at the back of each green so two very good shots were required.
In the Wednesday Yellow Tee Challenge Josh Davis was the winner on December 4. This popular competition is open to members and non- members with payment and registration to be made at the bar of Scone Sporties before heading out onto the course. The yellow tees provide the shortest course to play.
In Scone ladies golf, Kerry McLennan will head to Stonecutters Ridge to play in the Golf NSW Medal playoff event on Wednesday, December 11. Having won at club and district level, Kerry will compete in the Division 1 section in the statewide contest. All the best Kerry from the Scone golfers.
The ladies will continue their 9 Hole Stableford competition played on the front nine each Thursday morning. On December 12 they will play for the Asser House voucher and will also meet for a post-game gathering there.
On Saturday, December 14, the event is the “Ham and Spam Day” sponsored by Sandy Lettice and Tom Hagan. The winners in the 18 Hole Stableford will be assured of some great prizes to take home whilst the worst score recipients will also be rewarded! The Summer Eclectic has just started with further entries still able to be made this Saturday. It will also be Round 1 of the Summer Cup, with Round 2 to be held on Saturday, December 21.
