By Lyn Banks
On Saturday, December 14 a field of thirty nine golfers played for the Ham and Spam Trophy at Scone. Sandy Lettice and Tom Hagan were the generous sponsors of the day. The light winds meant the conditions were conducive to good scores with thirteen players having scores better than 36 points.
The best score of the day was by Trevor Wilson with a fabulous 44 points. This won him a ham for the C Grade prize. The next best was Scott Reid who had 41 to win B Grade, another ham, whilst Clayton Rogers on 40 points was also amongst the ham winners with the A Grade prize.
Spam winners were Jake Teague, Phil McGuirk and George Campbell in each grade.
Jake did better on the 4th /13th winning the NTP with a shot to 4.6 metres. On the 8th /17th Luke Stevens was the winner with his shot finishing 1.47 metres from the hole.

In ladies golf the 2019 Golf NSW Medal State Final was played on Wednesday at Stonecutters Ridge Golf Course in Sydney. Well done to Kerry McLennan who represented the Hunter River District and our club. On a very tough and unknown course, she played well to be tied 6th in Division 1 out of 17 players, and tied 11th out of 46 players overall.
The ladies are set to play 9 hole competitions followed by a social gathering, on Thursday, December 19, playing for the Buttered Scone voucher.
The popular 9 Hole Yellow Tee Challenge played on Wednesdays is open to all golfers. On Wednesday, December 11, Russell Jukes had a great 25 points to be the winner and consequently receive a handicap reduction. Matt Langan had 23 points to be runner up in a field of 15 players.
