Mannings Dominate Golf
Pam and Charlie Manning didn’t play golf together in this week’s competitions, but both showed they know their way around the Scone Golf Course where they have spent so many hours volunteering and playing.
Pam started the good week off by winning the ladies Medal of Medal playoff on Thursday, and Charlie followed up with the Monthly Mug on Saturday!
On Thursday, August 31 a very good field of Scone lady golfers played an 18 Hole Stableford for Gael Holland’s Trophy and it was also the Medal of Medals playoff for the season sponsored by Melanie’s Jewellers. Pam Manning had the round of the day continuing her great form to be the winner of both events. Her 68 nett was the clear best in the medal playoff and 41 points also won her the trophy of the day. Kathy Robinson on 36 points was the runner up and she also won the NTP on the 17th.
The ball winners were: Pam Manning 41, Kathy Robinson 36, Ann Cameron, Jo Brown, Judy Carmody, June Jukes 35 and Narelle Rutter 34 points.
On Thursday, September 7 the ladies will play a stableford for Sarah Howey’s Trophy.
Doon MacCallum had two great rounds at the NHLDGA Championships played at Hawks Nest on Monday and Tuesday August 28 and 29. Her 71 and 70 nett, won her the Sheila Kinsella Trophy for the best nett in Division 2.
On Saturday, September 2, the men played an 18 Hole Stroke / Stableford for the Scone RSL Group Monthly Mug. Charlie Manning with a great 71 nett was the Mug and B Grade winner.
The A Grade prize was won by Clayton Rogers who had 37 points and that was the score also required in C Grade for winner Geoff Ferguson.
Clayton had a very good day with a fantastic shot on the 2nd to 0.26 metres just short of the hole, which also got him a jackpot of two balls. The 8th / 17th was won by George Davidson at 5.43 metres.
Ball winners were: Charlie Manning 38, Geoff Ferguson, George Campbell, Owen Presnell (visitor) 37, Clayton Rogers, Phil McGuirk 36, Tony Pringle, Jim Elder, Tom Thompson, Mick Alsleben 35, John Murray, George Davidson and Steve Morse all on 34 on a countback.
The men can look forward to a different event on Saturday September 9 with the playing of an 18 Hole Ambrose 4BBB Stableford. Paul and Liz Smart are the trophy donors.
Teams can be entered on the sheet at the club for the 7.30am or 12.30pm shot gun starts on Saturday, September 16.
There will be an 18 Hole Four Person Ambrose event for all members and non-members to farewell the current course. An information session regarding the pending redevelopment of the course will be held in the evening.
