Scone Golf: May 12 – 15
By Lyn Banks
IT was again a pleasant golfing day at Scone on Saturday when the members played an 18 Hole Stableford for the Graham Brown & Scott Shann Trophy.
Only a couple of players took advantage of being able to play on Sunday, but the best scores were returned on Saturday.
Trophy donor Scott Shann set the pace to have the best score of the day with 41 points and win B Grade.
Sean Constable had 39 to win A Grade whilst Adam Russell won C Grade with 38 points.
Balls went to these players plus Duncan Yuille and Ross Banks on 36 and then with a run of 35 points, to Clayton Rogers, Tony O’Neill, Kevin Thompson, George Betts and Geoff Ferguson.
The NTP on the 8th / 17th went to Paul Smart at 4.4 metres.
On Saturday May 21 the men will play the annual 4 Man Ambrose for the Les Cottam, Geoff Ferguson, George Campbell and Lindsay Hodge Trophy.
The only requirement for the team is that all players need to have 4 tee shots taken.
Players should note that they need to play the second round of the Kevans Knockout by June 4.
In the Masters Pennant on Sunday, round 2 was hosted by Scone against a very strong Toronto team boasting three scratch markers.
Derek Field managed to square his match and Jeff Harrington did very well to win 2&1, playing at number 1 and 2 in the team.
The next game is at Kurri Kurri on Sunday, May 22.
Ladies golf at Scone on Thursday was played in very windy conditions.
The winner of the 18 Hole Stableford for the Ruby’s Girl Trophy was Marie Murray who had 36 points.
Marie also won a ball along with Lyn Banks 35, Jo Brown 34 and Sue Watts 33 points.
Lyn also won the NTP on the 17th.
On Thursday, May 19 the event is an 18 Hole Stableford for the Kathy Robinson Trophy, and it is hoped that after all the Horse Festival activities that golf may be back on the agenda for many.
