Scone Golf: June 9 – 13

ON Saturday, June 11 the Scone men golfers played an 18 Hole Stableford on a damp course making play more difficult.

The winner of the Scott Reid Trophy was Clayton Rogers with a very good 38 points in the conditions.

20150826Golf01Scott also provided grade prizes which went to: A Grade Simon Groom with 37 points, B Grade Ross Higham with 36 points and C Grade also with 36 points to Tom Thompson.

Balls went to the above players and Red Palmer 34, Geoff Barton 33, Jim Elder, Jim Murray, Stuart Dawson 32, David Druce, Damien Collison 31, Brad Hockley, Neil Clydsdale, Ross Banks and Jack Tilse 30 on a countback.

The NTP on the 2nd / 11th was won by Ross Banks 1.73 metres whilst on the 8th / 17th Charlie Manning won with 3.21 metres.

Players were impressed with the new rolling screen being introduced showing the scores.

On Sunday the final of the Snyman Fourball Knockout was played with a narrow win to Geoff Ferguson and Andy Phelps on the 20th hole.

They defeated Red Palmer and Ross Banks.

Players are reminded that the third round of the Kevans Knockout needs to be played by July 9.

Next Saturday, June 18, the Scone members’ only Holden Scramble 4 person Ambrose will be played.

Teams need to enter by Thursday, June 16 to enable organisation for the day to be completed.

On Monday a popular social 9 Hole Ambrose was played.

There was a good field with many cart golfers enjoying the game.

The winners were Red Palmer, Yvonne Palmer, Ross Banks and Lyn Banks who had 3 under par for 28 ¼ nett.

The runners up were Tony Bowd, Mark Hayes, Kevin Bailey & Garry Bailey who finished with 28 & 3/16ths.

The next event will be on Sunday, July 17.

The Masters Pennant series continues on Sunday June 19 with Scone traveling to Toronto.

The following Sunday will be the rescheduled match against Kurri at Scone.

This has resulted in the Mixed Foursomes Championship being deferred with a date to be advised.

In ladies golf the Foursomes Championship needed to be deferred due to unplayable greens from the rain.

There was some play but a new date is being sought.

On Thursday, June 16 the ladies will play an 18 Hole Stableford for a Royal Hotel Trophy and some round 2 matches will be played in the singles knockout.

Thursday the event is an 18 Hole Stroke for the District Medal and Noreen Marshall Trophy.

The ladies again will be traveling about with Maitland Open on Friday June 17, and then the Hunter River District event being supported on Monday and Tuesday next week at Hunter Valley and Stonebridge Golf Courses.
