Scone Golf: Feb 3

The Hunter River District Pennant season has just commenced with Scone Golf Club entering a men’s team in the Senior Division. They are in Group B with teams from Murrurundi, Denman, Aberdeen, Branxton, Hunter Valley and Kurri. Group A contains teams from Singleton, Maitland, Cypress Lakes, Paterson, The Vintage and Dungog. The competition is Four Ball Best Ball Handicap Match Play, with three pairs contesting each match.
In round 1 on Sunday, February 3, the Scone team played Kurri at Murrurundi. On a hot day in very dry conditions the Scone team had a good win 2 / 1. In the four ball matches, wins went to Red Palmer & David Druce 2&1, George Davidson & Col Solway 5&3, whilst Charlie Manning & Lindsay Hodge went down 3&2.
There will be six matches played on Sundays. Semi-finals will then be played across the groups by the leading two teams in each. On Sunday February 10 the players will travel to Denman to play Hunter Valley. The team will be Mick Alsleben & George Davidson, Ross Banks & Lindsay Hodge, David Druce & Charlie Manning.
The ladies Hunter River District Pennant will commence on February 25, with six players required for each match. Two players will contest non-handicap matches while the other four in the team will play handicap matches. The first round will be at Cessnock with Scone playing Cypress Lakes.
