Scone Golf: Apr 2 – 4

It was a full weekend of golf at Scone with the Monthly Mug and Foursomes Championships being held.
Both days were quite hot and windy, but with plenty of run on the course the scores were very good on Saturday.
On Saturday April 2, Adam Moore shot 74 to have a great score of 65 nett and take the Scone RSL Group April Mug.
B Grade was won by John Haydon with 36 points on a countback from David Druce, whilst Lindsay Hodge had a great round in C Grade with 40 points to be the winner.
The NTP on the 2nd / 11th was won by Rod Vaughan 1.62 metres and by Phil McGuirk 2.17 metres on the 8th / 17th.
Ball winners were: Adam Moore 43, Lindsay Hodge 40, Gordon Halliday 39, Clayton Rogers 37, Red Palmer, John Haydon, David Druce, Les Cottam 36, Ross Banks, Mick Alsleben 35 and Scott Reid 34 c/b.
In the ladies 18 Hole Stableford the players were very close with Lyn Banks having 38 points and both Kerry McLennan and Julie Leckie finishing with 37.
On Sunday April 3, the 18 Hole Men’s Foursomes was held in three grades.
The Championship was eventually decided after a 3 way 4 hole playoff when three pairs finished on 83.
Troy Collison and Jake Teague were the winners as they held off Joel Woods and Adam Moore and Ross Banks and Clayton Rogers.
In B Grade George Davidson & Michael Davidson were convincing winners when they had 85 and this was also good enough to win them the nett trophy with 72 ½ .
C Grade was closely contested with Les Cottam & Kevin Thompson having 95 to beat Red Palmer & David Bradshaw by a shot.
Ball went to: George Davidson & Michael Davidson 72 ½; Jake Teague & Troy Collison 73 ½; David Bradshaw & Red Palmer 74; Les Cottam & Kevin Thompson 74 ½; Joel Woods & Adam Moore 74 ½.
On Saturday April 9 the men will play an 18 Hole Stableford for the Clayton Rogers Trophy.
The ladies will play the second Golf NSW and Monthly Medal round for the Melanie’s Jewellers Trophy on Thursday April 7.
On Monday April 4 the ladies pennant team played Cypress Lakes at Branxton in round three of the series.
Scone had a good win defeating Cypress Lakes 4-1 at Branxton.
Scone won the two scratch matches with Lyn Banks 2 and 1 and Sue Watts 6 and 4.
In the handicap matches there were wins to Julie Leckie 5 and 4 and Kathy Robinson 4 and 2, and a loss to Narelle Rutter 4 and 2.
The next match is at Singleton against Hunter Valley on April 11.
