Scone Court Report: April 2020
THE matters heard at Scone Local Court this month were limited due to the pandemic measures in place. All adjourned matters will be reported on when they are heard in court.
The matters before Scone Local Court this month included:
BURNETT, Emma, a 43 year old from Scone plead guilty to a charge of Disobey “no stopping” sign in school zone from an incident on Hill Street in Scone on August 2 last year. The charge was dismissed under section 10.
CARTER, Alex David, a 23 year old from Scone had a charge of Common assault from an incident in Scone on December 1 last year. He was sentence with an intensive corrections order for a period of 10 months.
FOOT, Justin Mitchell, a 53 year old from Elermore Vale pled guilty to a charge of drive with high range prescribed concentration of alcohol, first offence. The incident occurred in Guernsey Street, Scone on March 17 this year where he returned a reading of 0.180. Mr Foot was fined $1200, disqualified from driving for six months and an interlock order was issued.
GILBERT, Luke James, a 43 year old from Scone pled guilty to charges of drive motor vehicle while licence suspended, not comply with direction to stop/move etc light vehicle and negligent driving (no death or grievous bodily harm). The offence occurred on December 14 in Aberdeen Street, Scone. Police observed Mr Gilbert drive his vehicle at speed from Kelly Street onto Mount Street, they followed Mr Gilbert and observed him turn into Aberdeen Street and on the dirt part of the road, he lost traction and fishtailed around the bend. Police activated their lights and sirens and observed Mr Gilbert drive quickly to a residence in Aberdeen Street, then left the vehicle and entered the premises. He was disqualified from driving for 4 months and given a 6 month community corrections order for the licence matter, fined $600 for failing to stop and fined $400 for negligent driving.
GREEN, Jeremy Baydon, a 30 year old from Kotara pled guilty to an offence of not comply P1/P2 high performance restriction from an incident on the New England Highway at Murulla on January 24. He had a hired a Camry V6 at the time and the matter was adjourned to Newcastle on May 18.
HARRIS, Nathan David, a 38 year old from Singleton pled guilty and was fined $280 for Class A m/v exceed speed> 10km/h from an incident in Murulla on the New England Highway where he was doing 75km/h in a 60km/h zone.
HEALEY, Connor Alexander, a 20 year old from Scone pled guilty to a charge of Novice driver drive with novice range prescribed concentration of alcohol, first offence from an incident in Scone on January 26 this year where he returned a reading of 0.018. He was sentenced to a fine of $800 and disqualified from driving for three months. Mr Healy has appealed the sentence on the grounds it is to severe and the matter will be sent to Newcastle to be considered by the District Court on a date to be set.
McFARLAND, Gregory James a 58 year old from Hanging Rock entered a written plea of guilty to an offence of class A m/v exceed speed > 10km/h from an incident on the New England Highway in Scone on December 7 last year where he was doing 116km/h in a 100km/h zone. He was sentenced with a fine of $400.
POSA, Cosmo Harrison, a 21 year old from Blandford was sentenced on a charge of drive with middle range concentration of alcohol. The offence occurred at approximately 12:05am on February 8 at the Woolworth’s car park in Scone, when Mr Posa returned a reading of 0.108. He was fined $900, disqualified from driving for three months and and an interlock order for 12 months.
THOMPSON, Sophie Ellen, a 28 year old from Scone had a charge of learner P1/P2 licence holder use mobile phone while driving from an incident on the New England Highway in Aberdeen on December 31 last year. It was alleged the Bluetooth icon was seen by the police officer on the vehicle screen connected to the mobile phone. Ms Thompson stated that it was connected for playing music and the charge was dismissed under section 10.
