Santa Claus is virtually coming to town
By Melissa Hutchinson
Santa has sent his virtual helper to Scone to celebrate Christmas this year, as not even a pandemic could slow Santa down.
With border restrictions in place, Santa’s virtual helper had a bit of trouble on his travels down to Scone, thankfully he has arrived on time and is ready to take photos with the children.

“We are really excited that we can bring Santa photos back to Scone,” said Lee Watts, Scone Neighbourhood Resource Centre (SNRC) manager.
“We have a beautiful Christmas scene set up with virtual Santa, which will still be part of the photos without having to worry about the 1.5 metre social distance rule,” she said.
“Unfortunately Santa cannot be here in person this year due to Covid-19 and will be staying at the North Pole however, he will be coming through on Christmas Eve.
“We are very happy with what Santa has picked for his replacement, he has audio and visual with a live feed back to the North Pole, so Santa will be able to hear everything that the boys and girls are saying.”
The SNRC is also creating Christmas hampers for those who are doing it tough this year and are unsure if they can buy presents or food for Christmas Lunch.
Christmas is a time for family, laughter and presents however, not everyone will experience that Christmas cheer so the SNRC is asking the community to donate gifts or food items if they are in the position to do so.
Gifts and food can be dropped at the SNRC at 130 Liverpool Street, Scone.
