OVER $100 000 so far has been raised from last weekends group 21 rugby league round 15 matches with all teams taking part in the Where There’s a Will Foundations mental awareness initiative.

All group 21 teams took part in the iniative wearing the special jerseys that have been auctioned with some clubs still to auction off their jerseys for the foundation.

The inaugural Where There’s Will Cup was played in Scone on Saturday night with Muswellbrook defeating Scone 32 points to 24 although first points went to Scone with Sam Taylor converting his own try.

This round was was marked for the foundations cause by group 21 with Cheif Executive Officer of the National Rugby League, Todd Greenberg, taking the time to attend group 21 games throughout the day and watching the Where There’s a Will cup game in Scone.

“It’s been fantastic, it is amazing when you see a local community get behind a cause like this and it’s a reminder for me the power of rugby league and what it can do in communities, particularly in regional New South Wales,” Todd Greenberg said.

“It’s been a wonderful day and I have been really happy to be here,” he said.

“In a job like mine there is always something to do but it is important that priorities like this come first and I have really enjoyed the opportunity, I have met a lot of really good people, this community has clearly been through a difficult time and out of that comes a real opportunity to change perceptions, particularly around mental health,” he said.

“The people I have met are very authentic and genuine about trying to make a difference,” said Todd Greenberg.

Co founder of the Where There’s a Will Foundation Hilton Carrigan was impressed with the communities support for the cause.

“Unbelievable, you would think it was a grandfinal day instead of the last round game, thanks to group 21, a big thankyou to Mick Reynolds, I know he doesn’t like hearing it but he’s done an awsome job and basically put this together and it’s been an awsome day,” Hilton said.

“The crowd here just blows you away, it makes you feel good to live in the Hunter Valley,” said Hilton Carrigan.
