Rezoning and Land Use
COUNCIL has identified land which may be rezoned or impacted by future infrastructure developments and residents have until the end of September to comment on their plans.
The changes are outlined in the Draft Upper Hunter Land Use Strategy 2016 and will be on display at:
- 6pm, Wednesday, August 24 at the Merriwa Council Administration Centre, 42 Vennacher Street, Merriwa;
- 6pm, Monday, August 29 at the Scone Council Administration Centre, 135 Liverpool Street, Scone, and
- 6pm, Wednesday, August 31 at the Country Women’s Association Hall, 109 Mayne Street, Murrurundi.
Mat Pringle, director of environmental and customer services said the strategy identified land which will eventually be investigated for the most appropriate use and zoning.
“There were many improvements and updates in the new draft strategy including clearer boundaries for investigation areas, more information regarding the protection of Important Agricultural Land and consideration of proposed infrastructure projects such as the Scone Bypass and Scone to Murrurundi water pipeline,” Mr Pringle said.
Submissions on the plan must be received by September 28 and addressed to the General Manager by email: council@upperhunter.nsw.gov.au or posted to PO Box 208, Scone, NSW 2337.
