Premier: System Ready, But More Testing Needed
THE Premier has said they expect more cases of Covid-19 as restrictions ease and the health system is ready, but more people need to come forward for testing to stay on top of the pandemic.
“Even the mildest symptoms mean you should get tested
“It could just come down to muscle pain or a scratchy throat, please come forward and get tested it’s so important
We need to control the virus, control the spread and ensure that the vast majority of the community stay well away from this virus
During May there will be an increased level of activity, so that means more of us need to come forward for testing
The strategy in NSW is to never go backwards, I don’t want to do what they have done in other countries which is open and shut, open and shut lock down, not lock down, we want to make sure that every step we take is a step forward and not a step backwards and that’s why we’re doing things in a particular way, making sure that as we ease restrictions making sure we can manage the number of extra cases that come on board as a result.
NSW Ventilators
Students at the University of Sydney and AmpControl a Newcastle based company have both produced prototypes for ventilators, which will be used in New South Wales to increase capacity and secure a local manufacturing supply chain.
The Premier said the aim is to ensure New South Wales has a secure supply, then provide support to other states and other countries with ventilators.
