ON Friday night a 27 male driver from Segenhoe and his male passenger were involved in an accident approximately 5 kilometres west of Gundy and were taken to the Scott Memorial Hospital, but are unaware how the accident occurred.

Both men had been at the Linga Longa Hotel in Gundy and consumed ‘a few light beers’ before leaving for Scone at approximately 11pm.

While rounding a tight corner the vehicle crossed into the opposite land, hit the side of the road and rolled, coming to rest on its wheels facing west in the eastbound lane.

The driver called a friend to take them to the local hospital, after pushing the vehicle off the road.

Both men suffered a number of bruises and abrasions and were admitted to hospital overnight for observation.

The vehicle was written off and police are continuing their enquiries.

High Range Drink Driving – Scone

ON Saturday night at approximately 11:38pm police received a phone call reporting an accident outside the Scone Public School.

The witness had observed a 26 year old male from Muswellbrook have an argument with their partner and then getting into the driver’s seat of a 2010 grey ford falcon sedan with Queensland number plates.

The witness said the man then drove at speed down Parker Street, Guernsey Street and Kelly Street before performing a u-turn and driving south along Guernsey Street where he lost control of the vehicle, mounted the footpath and collided with a brick wall next to Scone Public School.

The vehicle was then driven to the car park of the Motor Lodge where the witness confiscated the car keys from the driver.

Police arrived at the Motor Lodge to find the witness and the accused driver standing together in the middle of the road.

The driver was subjected to breath test and returned a positive result.

Police placed the driver under arrest and took him to the Muswellbrook Police Station, where he undertook another breath analysis and returned a reading of 0.165 grams of alcohol in 210 litres of breath, which is a high range reading.

The accused is to appear at Scone Local Court on December 22.
