Pile Up at the Local Tip

LOCALS reported a wait time of 20 minutes at the Scone waste depot this morning as residents take advantage of the free load of waste courtesy of the Upper Hunter Shire Council as part of Clean Up Australia Day activities.

More than 140 loads of rubbish were taken to the tip for free before the 1pm deadline, which Council estimates to be equivalent to $2,000 worth of waste charges.

The tip is open until 5pm today and normal waste charges now apply.
