Off to a Bowling Start
THE greens were full with 11 teams of barefoot bowlers, watched by more than 80 spectators last night at the Scone RSL for Scone Neighbourhood Resource Centre fundraiser.
More than $1,500 was raised to help the Centre buy its own building to house the services they provide to the community well into the future.
Lee Watts, manager of the Scone Neighbourhood Resource Centre said she was excited to see such strong community support.
“Barefoot Bowls was the first and it was so great to see so many people so supportive in a cause and having a great time while enjoying a night out. The crowd were wowed and entertained by Baihe and the Vocal Art Studio.
“A huge thank you to the Scone RSL who organised the event with direction on the greens and donated and cooked the BBQ. There were also many organisations that donated to the night – Cressfield Stud, Newcastle Knights, Aberdeen Men’s Shed, Anne Watson, Lucks Premium Cuts, Colonial Motel, Nancy Raichel, Pharmasave, Celebrations and Rachel’s Hair & Beauty.
It takes many people to make sure an event runs smoothly and a big call out goes out to those helpers”, Mrs Watts said.
There will be many fundraising events to reach their goal, with the next one being a skills auction on Saturday, November 17.
Pledges for the night are coming in with a Tour of Cressfield Stud during Breeding season from Wayne Bedggood, Tony Windsor will be cooking a Gourmet BBQ for 6, Alan Gordon has donated a Joy flight, there are pews from the old Council chamber.
The list is available on the website at www.snrc.com.au and will all go under the hammer on Saturday 12th November at the Scone RSL.
If you would like to pledge a skill for auction or an item please contact the Scone Neighbourhood Centre on: 02 6545 2562 or reception@snrc.com.au.
