No Fire Today

TODAY, due to the continued dry conditions throughout the Upper Hunter region the fire danger has been elevated to very high.

Graham Brown, district officer of the Liverpool Plains Rural Fire Service said no fires will be able to be lit today.

“The conditions in the area have been very dry with no rain, the fire report is released each day at 4.30pm and there is a very high fire danger for the Upper Hunter for today,” said Mr Brown.

“When there is a very high fire danger fire permits are automatically suspended,” he said.

“It isn’t a particularly hot day 29 or 30, but I think it is just the dry conditions and possibly wind, there are a range of  factors to make the decision,” Graham Brown said.

The bushfire danger period ended yesterday for most of the state, but has been extended for the Upper Hunter, Liverpool Plains and Gunnedah areas until the end of April by the Bushfire Management Committee.
