Next Phase of Bypass Work Begins
THE next phase of surveying and sampling has begun for the Scone bypass and will continue until the end of October.
A spokesperson from the Roads and Maritime Services said the work will include recording survey data, detailed mapping and photography of the ground, installing water monitoring at selected boreholes and digging test pits to examine soil type.
“The information collected will help inform the detailed design of the bypass,” said the spokesperson.
“Geotechnical investigations are under way on private property and Roads and Maritime will continue to work with property owners to minimise any disruption,” they said.
“Scheduling of geotechnical investigations and survey work on the existing road corridors is yet to be finalised but is expected to start this month, weather permitting.
“Temporary signs will be installed to inform motorists of any changed traffic conditions and the community will be kept informed as work progresses,” the spokesperson said.
