Warmer Weather Signals Pool Season

ADVERTORIAL

Summer is coming and it is time to get pools ready.

Meegan O’Neill from SPB Enterprises in Scone said preparing your pool now can prevent pool problems when the warmer weather hits.

“If you have a cover on your pool drain any water off it, but not back into the pool,” said Ms O’Neill.

“Clean the cover well so it won’t stick or smell over summer and store it under cover to protect it from perishing,” she said.

“Next make sure the water level is at the middle of the skimmer opening and the water can circulate properly around the pool.

“Check the pump, filter and skimmer basket is clean and working properly, then start the circulation system and clean the pool of any debris.

“It is the ideal time to take a water sample, so after the pool water has circulated for 24 to 48 hours collect of bottle of the pool water making sure you collect the sample at elbow depth and bring it into us for a complete water analysis,” she said.

“It is so much easy to diagnose and treat an issue with the pool water at the beginning of the pool season before the water warms up and problems can take longer to fix.

“A pool can look good one day and after a day of hot weather can turn green with algae if the balance is not right, so starting summer with your water in balance can save a lot of headaches.

“If you want to test the water yourself you can buy a test kit and you should look for a free chlorine level of 1-3 parts per million and a pH of 7.4 – 7.6,” she said.

“If you are having any other problems with your pool come and visit us and we can help you sort it out before summer, so that you get the most enjoyment out of the pool,” Meegan O’Neill said.
