Garden – Maintenance Position

Permanent Part-Time position, offering a guaranteed 30 hrs per week (days and times to be negotiated).

This position requires the successful applicant to be responsible for the overall grounds and maintenance at 3 locations within the township of Scone.

A documented preventative maintenance schedule will be utilised to assist with prioritising tasks at all locations, and documenting completion of tasks as they occur.

The tasks within the position will include, but not be limited to:

• lawn mowing;
• installation and maintenance of garden watering systems at all locations; expansion and maintenance of garden beds, replacing plants as required;
• pruning of trees and bushes as required;
• maintaining plant nursery (for the purpose of maintaining gardens at all locations);
• attending to preventive maintenance schedule within a timely manner – example; routine battery changes of smoke detectors; cleaning of air-conditioner filters;
• basic building maintenance as required – such as painting, minor repairs of fly screens, cupboard doors, tap washers and other tasks as requested, when required.

Key Selection Criteria

Essential

• Current NSW Drivers licence
• Physically fit
• Work unsupervised and manage own time efficiently
• Competent in the use of garden maintenance equipment; example – chainsaw; hedger; whipper snipper etc
• Have a good understanding of plants and their differing requirements (eg; plants that require pruning & when; seasonal plants; frost sensitive)
• Be able to carry out basic building repairs and maintenance, as would be done in own home
• Communicate effectively with older people

Desirable

• Previous building and/or maintenance experience
• Landscaping experience
