New Status for Where There’s A Will

THE Where There’s A Will Foundation has just been granted direct gift recipient (DGR) status, allowing people to make their donations tax deductible.

Polly Yuille, committee member of the Foundation said the new status was a great news for their generous donors.

“The support for the new Foundation has been exceptional and has left us with no doubt that the community wants to reduce mental illness and improve the well being of this community,” said Ms Yuille.

“The DGR status will hopefully encourage more people to make a donation, knowing that it is now tax deductible,” she said.

“In fact all donations made to the Foundation so far can be claimed, people can simply contact us for a receipt,” she said.

“The donations we have received to date is wonderful and has allowed us to lay the ground work for improving mental health in the community,” she said.

“There’s a real groundswell of support for what is happening and it’s seriously motivating for all the volunteers, teachers, parents and community leaders who are working hard to give our children the skills they need to flourish in life and there is so much more we want to do,” Polly Yuille said.

Goals Achieved So Far:

  • Batyr programme: delivered to all Year 11 and 12 students in the Upper Hunter: Will Brings Batyr to Town.
  • Mental health first aid training: for teachers and members of the general public: Police Specialist Trains Local Teachers.
  • National Student Leadership Summit: 18 local high school students attended the summit in Adelaide and now play a significant role in helping to embed well-being practices within their school communities: Young Leaders Return.
  • Positive Education Schools Association conference: More than 20 teachers from 17 schools across the Upper Hunter attended the conference to hear from world leading experts in positive psychology and are developing plans to implement positive education in their schools: Local Schools Working Together.
  • BounceBack! Programme: Six schools in the Upper Hunter will be part of an Australian first trial to implement the BounceBack programme into their curriculum. The implementation and results of the programme will be studied by the Australian Catholic University’s Institute of Positive Psychology: Australian First Well-Being Study.
