New Faces on Scone Chamber
DAVID Luck is the new president of the Scone Chamber of Commerce, following last night’s annual general meeting at the Scone Sporties.
The AGM was the most well attended in many years with approximately 30 people present and approximately 20 nominations – the most nominations were received for a recent Chamber election, however many were invalid.
Ben Wyndham, the outgoing president, received nominations for vice-president, but declined to accept the nomination.
Elected unopposed to the executive positions were David Luck president, Jane Callinan vice-president, Steve Guihot treasurer and Garry Gilkenson as secretary.
New committee members include Daniel Zammit, Jenny Dawson and Elizabeth Flaherty.
David began running his own business at the age of 20 and said he is passionate about local business.
“I like a challenge and I’d like to really have an input in the revitalisation of the main street, I am in the main street and it will impact me majorly,” said Mr Luck.
“One of the subjects we are looking at is the bypass and the main street, but we’ve got to look at the overall picture,” he said.
“The redesign of the golf course and the sporting grounds, how we can draw people into the town to keep small businesses running, because small businesses if they have a minor drop in cash flow it can be very disruptive, so we need to work out ways to diversify people’s business to really keep them going,” David Luck said.
