New Boat for Aberdeen SES
THE Aberdeen State Emergency Service have received a new Gemini 550 boat for search and rescue which Tim McElroy the local unit controller said was ideal for local conditions.
“The biggest reason we needed it was for flood rescue and also for Glenbawn Dam it will mean we will be able to do the rescues a bit quicker plus it can handle a fair bit more weight than the other boat,” said Mr McElroy.
“It’s a good replacement, our old boat was nearly 14 or 15 years old,” he said.
“In the future we’ll also be able to go away to other areas to support other crews.
“If there is an east coast low and we have nothing up here we can go to help crews on the coast if they need it,” he said.
“We have several members now doing the flood technician 3 training,” Tim McElroy said.
