Murulla Causeway Decision

AFTER consulting with the Murrurundi community, the Upper Hunter Shire Council have decided to replace the Murulla Street causeway and upgrade the road approaches.

The new causeway will be wider, longer and made of concrete, with Council staff currently working with the the New South Wales Resources for Regions funding body to have the variation deed approved.

In August 2018 Council secured funding for the Murulla Street causeway upgrade as part of a joint application with Muswellbrook Shire Council for mine affected roads.

A report containing various upgrade options was presented at the June 2019 Infrastructure Services Committee meeting, with options ranging from implementing a high or low level bridge, through to a simple extension of the existing structure.
