Murrurundi Gathers At Dawn
By Des Dugan
As the sun crept up over Mount Helen 150 men, women and children watched over a solemn Anzac Day ceremony witness by guest Captain Bernard York.
The Murrurundi dawn service was one of the best patronised in recent years.
The ceremony was held outside the ANZAC Gates which are set for a $150,000 refurbishment following recent engineers inspection.
Services under the cenotaph have been suspended until the refitment.
Gary Vaele, president of the village’ chapter of the RSL Muswellbrook Sub-Branch told the gathering he was hopeful they would be back in use by next year’s dawn service.
It was also attended by three light horsemen including the respectful dismount.
