People gather for the Murrurundi ANZAC Day dawn service.
“Let us take strength in the knowledge and hope that our sons and daughters will never forget,” Murrurundi RSL president Gary Veale told the dawn service in Murrurundi this morning.
And it appears the bequest was heeded with the village turning out in numbers for the 6am service at the Cenotaph.
It was one of the best patronised with a crowd of more than 200 gathering around the corner of the Bowling Club green.
Watched by veterans, the mayor, Wayne Bedggood, and local Vietnam veteran Bobby Paton, the solemn service was also witnessed by three mounted light mounted horse participants in full regalia.
“In our everyday life, let us endeavour to carry on their traditions established by past wars and conflicts at such tragic cost,” Mr Veale told the crowd.
“See that ye hold fast the heritage we leave you. Yea, and teach your children never in the coming centuries may their hearts fall or their hands grow weak.”
