More local cases – first in Merriwa

HUNTER New England Health have reported 69 new cases of covid overnight including:

• 1 in Merriwa
• 3 in Muswellbrook
• 2 in Singleton and
• 1 in Gresford

No new exposure sites have been identified in the Upper Hunter Shire area or Muswellbrook today.

At this stage, with reopening beginning on October 11, it is highly unlikely there will be a local lockdown if there are further cases identified.

Only if there is a significant community outbreak will lockdowns in the future be considered.
