McHappy Times in Scone
SCONE McDonald’s is hosting its annual McHappy Day next Saturday, November 14 to raise money for Ronald McDonald House Charities.
“The whole gist of Ronald McDonald House is to help sick kids and their families,” said customer service department manager and McHappy day coordinator, Jackson Barry.
“A lot of people that we’ve spoken to in the community, they know someone who have used Ronald McDonald House and their services . . . it’s really close to home.
“We’re aiming tor raise $5,900 at a store level and $5.3 million on a national level.
Due to COVID-19, all fundraising activities for the 2020 McHappy Day are based on limited contact.
“This year will be a bit different, there will be physical social distancing limits to manage the flow, that includes a maximum number of customers allowed in the store and on the patio,” Mr Barry said.
“We’ve got a raffle going, some colouring competitions, lollie guessing, silly socks, things like that.
“Normally we do face painting and have outdoor things but we just can’t ensure social distancing and minimise the contact.
Mr Barry said the McDonald’s crew are excited to give back to families in need.
“We just think it’s a very family orientated event and it’s an opportunity for our McDonald’s family to give back to the community.
“We want to thank our local businesses who have supported us and donated prizes, especially during the current times, it’s quite a big ask but they’ve really pulled through for us this year.
McDonald’s covers all administrative and management costs of the charities, so everything that is donated goes directly to the charity and people who need it most.
