Maitland Polocrosse Carnival
By Cathy Finlayson
THE Bunnan Polocrosse Club was represented by a small but enthusiastic group of players at the Maitland Polocrosse Carnival on the weekend.
The weather was kind and the fields were in excellent condition.
Bunnan’s C Grade Open team of Jack Halsted, Ed and Tom Rossington, Brent Morcom, Daniel Faint and John Halsted made it through to the final against Sydney.
This was a close and entertaining game which saw Sydney run out winners by one goal.
Daniel Faint won the Best No 1 and John Halsted the Best No 3 in this division.
The Bunnan Club continues to grow and it is great to see the skills of the club’s new recruits developing as the season progresses.
The A Grade Women’s team of Claire Hockings, Tegan Cornish, Sarah Finlayson, Leah Wilson, Jess Hood and Kaylene Wilson were runners up in this division.
The A Grade Men’s Team of Joe and Gary Wamsley, Michael Hockings, Brad Wamsley, Josh Barnett and Mitch Wamsley won the A Grade Open division with Brad winning the Best No 1 and Champion Mens Player, while Josh Barnett picked up the Best No 2.
Mitch played well to pick up the Best No 3, Champion Junior Player and Champion Junior Stock Horse.
Our lone sub-junior player on the weekend, Emily Wamsley played in a made up section called the Freddos who were runners up in this division.
Emily impressed the judges winning the Best No 3, the Champion Sub-Junior Player and Champion Sub-Junior ASH.
The club would like to welcome its newest player, Colin Story from South Africa who displayed some pretty handy racquet work over the weekend.
Members of the Bunnan Club have a weekend off before heading to the Narrabri Polocrosse Carnival on July 16 and 17.
The club would like to wish Mitch Wamsley all the best for his trip to South African where he will represent Australia in the Under 16’s team.
Mitch has been playing some outstanding polocrosse and we know he will be a great ambassador for the sport.
