Locals Support Manning Family Adventure

“My left leg costs $100,000 and it lasts five years, thankfully I have insurance but there are a lot of kids who don’t,” said Jamie ‘Dodge’ Manning.

The line up for the mechanical bull ride: Back: Jamie Munn, Wayne Bedggood, Maurice Collison, Alan Gordon, Kyle Warren and Darryl Rando. Front: Melanie Bright, Lee Watts, Walmsley and Vinny Coones.

The Manning family ready for their new adventure: Jedd, Lori, Karen, Jamie and Bray.

After spending two years in and out of hospital for injuries sustained in a car accident, Jamie wants to spend time with his young family riding 600 kilometres from Tipla to Dubbo to raise money for Limbs4Life.

To help the Manning family off on their new adventure in two weeks time, more than 100 locals gathered at the Golden Fleece Hotel in Scone yesterday to help cover the costs of their trip and make a donation.

Jamie said he was overwhelmed by the show of support from his home town.

“I live in Dubbo now, but Scone will always be my home,” said Jamie ‘Dodge’ Manning.

“It’s hard to get around without a leg, but it’s even harder to watch kids who can’t play outside with their mates,” he said.

“We want to help families through Limbs4Life by raising money for things they need like their petrol and accommodation expenses while they go through treatment,” Jamie Manning said.

The Manning family are hoping to raise $20,000 for Limbs4Life and Jedd, the 14 year old son of Jamie and Karen will also video the families trip to make a documentary.

People have donated a goose-neck trailer, generators and other practical things to the Manning family for their ride and last night the people of Scone also raised approximately $14,000.

The highlight of the day was the mechanical bull ride with local celebrities.
