LOCAL studs Sledmere and Newgate were among the first to begin showing their horses at the Magic Millions parade which started yesterday.

Catriona Murphy from Sledmere said they have taken 25 horses to the sales, had 15 inspections yesterday and today is busier.

“We were one of the first lots to arrive at the sales so everybody who was here already doing inspections came to us and we are ticking along nicely today, we expect to have 50 parade over the next few days,” said Ms Murphy.

“We are hoping every horse finds a new home, they are a really lovely balanced draft and we’ve got horses to suit everybody really,” Catriona Murphy said.

Sam Fairgray, general manager of Newgate said they were excited to present the first progeny of their stallions Sizzling, Eurozone and The Factor among the 38 horses they have taken to the sale.

“We’ve had good solid inspections and we had a lot of inspections on the farm prior to coming up to the Gold Coast which is good,” Mr Fairgray said.

“We expect Sunday to become busier after the races on Saturday are over and increase each day as more people arrive from interstate and overseas,” he said.

“It’s the biggest draft we have presented with some of the nicest horses and everything points to a really good sale,” Sam Fairgray said.

Potential buyers from throughout Australia, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, Hong, Kong, China and South Africa have already conducted inspections of local horses, with more expected prior to the sale on Wednesday, January 11.
