Little Businesses Big Win
TWO Aberdeen business owners are relieved and excited that the Roads and Maritime Services have listened and acted on their concerns.
Caitlin Reichert, owner of Pure Hair and Body and Michelle Pryor, owner of Chocolattea Cafe lost several car parking spaces across from their businesses when the RMS changed that section of road to no parking, without consultation.
They had tried to find answers for many months and met with RMS and Council representatives last week, but were not hopeful a compromise would be found.
Fortunately, today the RMS gave them the good news that two car spaces will be created in the current no stopping area.
“We are really happy that there will be two spaces for our clients,” Ms Reichert said.
“It might not seem like a big thing, but it will make a big difference to our clients and our small businesses,” she said.
“I wasn’t hopeful anything would happen, but I am thankful it has,” said Caitlin Reichert.
Michelle Pryor hopes it will attract more traffic to her new Cafe.
“It makes parking more available and if there is signage there and the Council put signage up too, people will have options and hopefully not just drive past,” said Ms Pryor.
“The outcome was what I was hoping, so I think they have met us in the middle, so it’s good,” she said.
