Listen for Santa’s Sirens
SANTA has said he is glad to have been invited back to do the lolly run in Scone this year with the Kingdon Ponds Rural Fire Brigade.
“I really admire the work that they do and I am excited to help them hand out lollies on Sunday,” said Mr Claus.
“I am more of a cold weather man, being from the South Pole and I can get quite hot in my suit down here,” he said.
“But the Rural Fire Service men and women also wear full suits when they are fighting fires here and I don’t know how they do it,” he said.
“People often tell me they marvel at how I can deliver so many presents on one night, but I have a team of elves, all well paid, working around the clock all year to support me.
“But I marvel at the local rural fire fighters who are on call all year ’round and do the hot dangerous work as volunteers.
“Flying into Scone on my sleigh we noticed how dry the paddocks are and how important it is that there are men and women available even on Christmas day to fight fires,” he said.
“I hope this year their buckets are overflowing with donations to continue to support the wonderful work they do,” Santa Claus said.
It seems local children have been especially good this year as the Fire Brigade will mobilise two trucks to cover the town.
Due to red tape the man in red will no longer be on the back of the fire truck, but in the comfy air conditioned cabin.
Santa will begin his rounds on Sunday and then return on Friday December 22 and Saturday December 23.
There are no maps this year so you will have to listen closely for the sounds of Santa sounding the sirens as they drive through the streets.
