Light Plane Incident Near Aberdeen
AT approximately 8:15pm the Westpac Rescue Helicopter was called to assist a 78 year old pilot of a light plane who had to make a forced landing in a paddock near Aberdeen and praised locals who witnessed the incident for their quick response.
Local paramedics and the Westpac medical team treated the pilot after he was pulled from the aircraft by locals and treated him for multiple injuries.
He was flown to the John Hunter Hospital in Newcastle in a stable condition for further treatment.
The Kingdon Ponds Rural Fire Service was also on scene assisting when the Westpac Rescue Helicopter arrived.
The incident is subject to an investigation by the Australian Transport Authority.
