Letter: More Work for Locals

Filed in editorletters by June 7, 2016

To the Editor,

Some of your readers may remember the story Works for Everyone about Tamara St Ean, she was working two part jobs but to fulfill her obligation was required to work additional hours as a volunteer.

SNRC provided the additional hours to assist with her commitment.

The editor of scone.com.au Elizabeth Flaherty did a story on Tamara that her boss read and was unaware of the need for these additional hours.

Her employment hours were increased and she no longer had to attend Work for Dole at the Neighbourhood Centre.

Although the Neighbourhood Centre was disappointed this was a fantastic outcome for Tamara with a little publicity.

So thanks to scone.com.au.

Today we welcomed Jemma Hickson who has started at the Neighbourhood Centre in the role as Administration Assistant  to fulfill her hours and obligations to Centrelink.

The staff and I are really excited to have a new person in the office and look forward to working with Jemma.

I would like to thank scone.com.au for their support that assisted our last Work for the Dole recipient to increase her employment at one.

Sincerely,

Lee Watts
