Laughs in All the Right Places
THE director of the Boor Hug, Phil Charley was pleased to hear laughs in all the right places at last night’s opening performance by the Scone Community Amateur Dramatic Society.
“It is great to hear the audience response and after so many rehearsals the laughs make it fresh for the cast again,” said Mr Charley.
“And it is interesting with a comedy because there were laughs in certain places tonight and tomorrow night the audience may find other lines funnier,” he said.
“But it is amazing that a French play written in the 1800’s is still funny today and the word play of Madame Prevallon who is a bit “shat…..shat….shattered,” translates perfectly to a modern audience,” Phil Charley said.
The lead role of Casimir Ferret is played by Patrick Wild who performed on stage for the first time last night.
“It was exhilarating and nerve-racking at the same time,” said Mr Wild.
“This definitely makes you step out of your comfort zone and it’s great to be involved with local theatre because it is community building,” he said.
“I am a teacher in the support unit at Muswellbrook South and my students are fairly used to seeing me play different characters and put on accents,” he said.
“A few people were encouraging me to try out and after I read the script I decided to do it,” Patrick Wild said.
