THE annual King of the Ranges Stockman’s Challenge has begun today in Murrurundi, with plenty of events for the whole family planned throughout the weekend.

Earl Kelaher, president of the King of the Ranges said riders from all over the country have arrived in Murrurundi to test their skills and entertain the crowds in a myriad of events.

“Tonight we have the Singleton town band and they will play for the stockman’s ride, which is the same as in the Sydney Olympics, then we have the welcome to country and the feature event, the story of the life of Archie “Bung” McInnes,” said Mr Kelaher.

“Tomorrow from 7am everything will be happening and whenever you arrive there will be a great event to watch,” he said.

“There will be entertainment tomorrow night, an auction and the calcutta is always a bit of fun,” he said.

“The finals are on Sunday and we begin at 7:30am and we’ll be finished by 5,” he said.

“The grand parade is on at 11am and then the presentations will be made after lunch,” Earl Kelaher said.
