Kia Ora Finale
THE Upper Hunter Shire Council and Kia Ora music camp concluded last night with a concert held at Scone High School with Ella Sinclair taking out the Amazing Voice Competition by only half a mark from from runner up Holly McDonald .
Upper Hunter schools took part in the 18th annual camp for youth music with Music Director Dr Ian Cook taking the helm once again.
“The overall success was phenomenal because the age group of the kids was quite young this year and with most of the music most of them hadn’t played any of it before, it was all new to them and they have learnt that in three days,” Dr Cook said.
“Having good tutorial staff really helps with the experience of working with young children, I’ll be back next year for our 19th year,” said Dr Ian Cook.
Also taking out prizes were Charesse Liverton, Sophie Hedley, James Haydon-Wicks, Max Seale, Madeline Phelps and Alex Buckley.
The Bob Rose Memorial Piano Award was presented by bob rose to Cassidy Watts who performed a solo performance during the concert.
Upper Hunter Shire General Manager Wade Crockett presented Holly Almond with the prize for winning the logo competition for the camp.
Camp Co-ordinator Aaron Rothemund introduced the evening and in his concluding address embodied the feeling of the camp.
“As long as you have done your best it doesn´t matter if you miss a queue, a note or you just lose your place, you will survive and you will surprise yourself with everything that you’ve learnt over these past three days. You will always have your greatest fans, your family and friends,” Aaron Rothemund said.
