Junior Stockmen Gather
THIS weekend Murrurundi Pony Club will host a Junior Stockman’s Challenge with more than 40 entries from throughout the Hunter and ‘over the Range’.
Lissa Baxter, from Murrurundi Pony Club said it was a great feeder event for the King of the Ranges.
“There are 40 competitors, with the youngest being 5 years old and going up to 15 year old,” said Ms Baxter.
“The reason it started 12 years ago was to give the young people the taste and go onto the the King of the Ranges,” she said.
“The events include pack, bare back, hoof care, cattle handling, cross country and whip crack,” she said.
“It is a great opportunity for people to come and see something a bit different and the kids really enjoy it,” she said.
There will be a canteen open and on Saturday night a BBQ, campfire and poetry competition with everyone invited to participate.
