Jock Keeps Kicking Goals
JOCK Madden is going from strength to strength since being selected in the Knight’s under 16’s team, he is the leading point scorer for his team, the second highest scorer in the competition, is playing in the grand final this weekend and is one of 40 players selected for the ‘emerging blues’ state of origin squad.
This Saturday Jock plays in the grand-final for the Harold Matthews Cup at Penrith, against Parramatta.
Playing for Parramatta will be Harry Duggan, one of Jock’s best mates and fellow St Joseph’s High School student.
David Madden, Jock’s dad said he is having a good year and enjoying the opportunities.
“He absolutely loves football and loves the training and the whole package,” said Mr Madden.
“His school has been fantastic in accommodating his training, but Jock has also been very organised and has made sure he has handed all of his assessments in on time,” he said.
“He doesn’t have much of a social life at the moment it is football training or school work, but his efforts are paying off and he spends time with his friends when he can,” David Madden said.
While playing for the Knight’s under 16’s team, Jock has also been going to training camps run by Brad Fittler for the ‘emerging blues’ squad.
At the moment there are 40 players in the squad, which will be culled to 26 players after this weekend’s grand final, with a final 18 to be selected for the State of Origin team.
